Emthonjeni Trust is a charity based in Cheltenham, UK, founded in November 2001 by a group of friends who wanted to make a positive contribution to the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, where poverty and unemployment are particularly high. Emthonjeni Trust supports projects run by the Raphael Centre, an award winning HIV / AIDS centre in Grahamstown.
This is a local charity to me and as I work for a charity that aims to better the lives of people in Gloucestershire, getting involved in this event just seemed the natural thing to do.
The exhibition has no set commission fee as each artist will decide how much of the final sale price goes to the charity, ranging from 25% as a minimum up to 100%. I have decided to offer 50% of the final price as my contribution to the charity. That's assuming they will sell.
The exhibition is on the 26th and 27th February and there is no admission fee. Unfortunately I don't have any examples of other work that will be there but I'm told there is a wide range so should suit most peoples tastes.
